http://www.utcle.org/eLibrary/preview.php?asset_file_id=16808

I. Introduction

The goal of this paper is to give a practical plan of attack for those with limited
voir dire in a motor vehicle collision case. Though it will touch on such issues as
challenges for cause post-Cortez/Vasquez, it is by no means an attempt to fully examine
these and other emerging issues. Further, it is not a comprehensive attempt to teach
specific methods or theories of choosing a jury. This paper will assist practitioners in
structuring their voir dire to effectively pick a jury, under rigorous time constraints, most
commonly 30 minutes. Further, the practical tips and experience contained within this
paper are aimed towards trying motor vehicle collision cases.
